How much restriction is there on company names in unlimited company

When registering your business, you have the option to choose a business name. You can choose one of the following three options:

(a) Register only a Chinese name;

(b) Register only an English name; or

(c) Register a Chinese name and an English name.

You can include English letters in a Chinese name, but not English words. If you want to include symbols in a Chinese or English name, you can only use the following symbols:

Please note that you cannot use the following names as your business name:

(a) The name may lead people to believe that the business is incorporated as a limited liability entity, but in fact it is not;

(b) When the business is incorporated as a limited liability entity, the name may lead people to believe that the business is incorporated under a different name, for example, if the company is named "ABC Limited", it cannot use "XYZ Limited" as its business name; or

(c) The name may suggest that the business has a connection with the government or any public institution, but such a relationship does not exist or has never existed.

(d) If it is a limited partnership fund, the name is not the name of the fund.

For the same business, you can register more than one business name. However, each additional business name will be registered as a branch. Additional business names must also comply with the above rules.

If you operate more than one business, you should register each business separately. Each business can have its own business name.
